A special planning meeting of NN Virginia Master Naturalists will be held Tuesday, April 30 9 am - noon at Belle Isle State Park Visitors Center.  The Chapter Board will be welcoming discussion from any and all members concerning the overall operation and structure of the chapter as we proceed forward.

Northern Neck Master Naturalists General Meeting

The Northern Neck Master Naturalists invites all members and the public to its first 2019 meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019 at 1:15 pm in the Northumberland Public Library, 7204 Northumberland Hwy, Heathsville. The program is free and open to all.

The presentation will be about Virginia’s Natural Area Preserves with special focus on the four preserves we have in the Northern Neck.

Presentation: Waves, Tides, and Currents: What's Pushing the Waters Around in Virginia

Dr. Courtney Harris - Professor of Marine Science at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS) - is the speaker at the 13 Nov 2018 General Membership Meeting of the Northern Neck Master Naturalists. Her topic is "Waves, Tides, and Currents: What's Pushing the Waters Around in Virginia.” The presentation is about the physical and geological “geography” of Chesapeake Bay and how waves, tides, and currents play an important role in defining the coastal regions of Virginia.

General Membership Meeting

General Membership Meeting followed by a presentation on “The New Flora of Virginia App: How to Use It.” This will be hands-on session to learn to use the exciting and comprehensive Flora of Virginia App.  Recommend that those that have the App bring their smart phones and cell phones.  Those without the App can receive help in downloading and installing the App as well as its uses as a field guide when you are out in the Forest, in a meadow, or roaming a Natural Area Preserve.  Kyle Langford and Jeff Wright will lead the session and help out with computers and Information Technology e.g. Computers, Pads, Smart Phones, etc.  The session is based on the Oct 2017 VMN webinar on the Flora of Virginia App.

This meeting will take place at the Lancaster Community Library, 16 Towne Centre Dr., Kilmarnock, VA. (upstairs meeting room).
