The Importance of Meadows in our Ecosystem and Citizen Science – Lancaster Community Library, Kilmarnock - 1:15 to 2:30PM
Meadows are the focus of a 2018 Northern Neck Master Naturalist yearlong series to learn about their importance and how to create and sustain meadows to provide food, shelter, and places to raise young for vital members of our ecosystem: pollinators and birds.“
Meadows host a variety of wildlife in the important areas of sources of food, shelter, and a place to raise their young. A wide array of wildflowers associated with meadows makes them of utmost importance to pollinating insects, including bees, and birds. In essence meadows support the entire ecosystem…and they are cool and great to explore!
The learning series focuses on meadows on the Northern Neck and how to add meadows within our counties, communities, and yards.
The series is open to the public.
