“Measures to Reduce Bird Strikes and Avian Deaths”
Matt Overton with Dominion Power will speak about avian collisions with electrical equipment & what Dominion Energy is doing to decreases the occurrences. Among the causes of bird deaths in the United States are impacts with towers and energy transmission infrastructure, electrocution, and wind turbines. What are some of the measures either required by law or encouraged by science and conservation that can reduce these deaths?
This is the second segment in the NNMN industrial Series to examine key industries and how they are addressing conservation and environmental issues. The first segment was on Oceans and included visits to Omega Protein, VIMS, and a presentation by the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
The session on 7 May is a joint meeting with the Northern Neck Audubon Society. Open to the Public.
